Navigating Pandemic Challenges and Building Resilience: UNICEF's Response in East Asia and the Pacific

The COVID-19 pandemic brought about significant changes to our lives, prompting us to adapt and transform the way we work, connect, and move forward as a global community. While vaccines have helped control the spread of the virus, challenges persist, especially for vulnerable populations. UNICEF collaborated with governments and communities in the East Asia and Pacific region to implement tailored Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE) strategies, focusing on behavior promotion and vaccination uptake. This publication highlights key strategies and lessons learned, aiming to address ongoing challenges and support recovery efforts for children and families in the region. Leveraging social listening and community engagement initiatives was crucial in shaping communication and vaccination strategies during the pandemic, ensuring timely and accurate information to build vaccine confidence and prevent COVID-19 transmission.
