As part of its long-term program for pledge donations "BLAGODETEL", in November 2018 UNICEF Bulgaria started a fundraising initiative through direct communication (Face-to-Face) at various public sites in the city of Sofia.
The initiative is implemented by the “Champions for Children” team which is situated at key locations in the capital – squares, city gardens and parks, malls and business centers, as well as diverse events.
By interacting with our Champions, you can learn more about the current campaigns and programs of UNICEF in Bulgaria, about the results we have achieved in recent years with the support of thousands of donors from all over the country, as well as to find out how to join the big family of UNICEF in Bulgaria through regular donations.
The “Champions for Children” team calls for passers-by to support UNICEF's work for the most vulnerable children in Bulgaria with monthly SMS donations. The fundraising is done only through a mobile phone and no cash donations are allowed.

How to become a Donor
Everyone can join the family of UNICEF donors with automatic monthly donations of 10 BGN via their mobile phone by sending SMS with text 2X5 to number 1021.
Every month on the date of its initial registration the donor will receive two thank-you messages from 1021 for two donations of 5 BGN (10 BGN in total) to UNICEF.
The donors have full control over their donations and have the option to change the amount or to stop donating at any time by sending a free SMS with letter S or STOP to 1021.
VAT and fees are not due to subscribers of any mobile operators. General terms and conditions of the program BLAGODETEL can be found here.

How to identify the team "Champions for children"
The “Champions for Children” are positive and inspiring individuals, ready to tell you more about the work of UNICEF in Bulgaria.
They always wear a badge with identification and contacts of the UNICEF Office. Their uniforms are branded with the logo of UNICEF and the program "Champions for Children”.
In their interactions with the donors, they are guided by the ethical code and the values of the organization - integrity, respect, responsibility and accountability.
