How can you make a difference?

The main objective of the Consultant is to support UNICEF work related to the expansion and sustainable implementation of the program for support of parenting of young children "Let's grow up together. Workshops for parents". In particular, under the guidance and supervision of the UNICEF ECD Officer, the Consultant will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Draft a detailed plan for program implementation in 2019 (specific activities, timeframe, expected outputs and indicators). The Pan should include activities that both lead to expansion of the program, as well as to developing mechanisms for its sustainable implementation.
  • Identify and involve new partners for implementation of the program, including establish a list of potential partners, liaise with the partners to introduce them to the program and agree on implementation arrangements, draft partnership agreements and other documents to support implementation, etc.
  • Coordinate and monitor the implementation of the program across different partners, identify and timely address any issues that may affect program quality and expected results.
  • Provide regularly methodological support to the group facilitators engaged in delivery of the program to parents.
  • Collect feedback from the parents who participate in the program and prepared short analysis with the main finding and recommendations received from them.
  • Organise 3-day trainings (up to 2 trainings) for new group facilitators on the program in accordance with an approved training program. Trainers and the program will be provided by UNICEF;
  • Prepare short reports on program implementation as agreed with UNICEF, including statistical data on the number and profile of parents who participated in the program and analysis of results and challenges.
  • Organise meetings at national and local level to raise awareness on the program and its benefits for families and children, as well as to disseminate results.
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing on the program implementation between the participating partners and with other stakeholders as needed.
  • Assist in drafting technical documentation, advocacy briefs, short information on the activities for the UNICEF website or partners, as needed.
  • Support UNICEF communication activities on program implementation, as well as advocacy efforts to ensure sustainability;
  • Participate in relevant meetings, workshops, seminars as needed;
  • Others as agreed with UNICEF.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

The successful candidate is expected to meet the following requirements:

  • Bachelor or Master's degree in one of the following areas: pre-school pedagogy (early education), pedagogy, psychology or other relevant field.
  • Excellent understanding of the existing institutional arrangements related to young children and families, and particular social and educational services.
  • Expertise in parenting support and parenting support programs with a focus on parents of young children will be considered a major advantage;
  • Excellent project management skills;
  • Ability to work under pressure; good negotiation, communication and presentation skills. Pro-activity and strong orientation towards results;
  • Ability to work independently;
  • Ability to manage partnerships across diversity of stakeholders;
  • Respect for cultural diversity and human rights;
  • Fluency of English language will be an advantage.

Timeframe and duration of the assignment

It is expected that the assignment will take place in the period April - December 2019.
