How can you make a difference?

The Manager will be leading UNICEF private sector fundraising and corporate engagement activities in Bulgaria in support of child rights agenda in the country and builds solidarity with children in other parts of the world.

The main duties and responsibilities include:

1. Planning, leading and supervising.

Through research and analysis, proposes strategies and plans for corporate engagements and fundraising from private sector, responsible for planning and budgeting for the PSFR team in line with UNICEF rules, regulations and programme objectives as set in CPAP and RWPs. Identifies capacity gaps and proposes improvements, recruits and supervises technical support/consultants, as necessary, for the fundraising and corporate engagement activities. Works closely with PFP Office (CODAS Unit) in Geneva in order to apply organisation’s priorities, develop strategies and set appropriate targets. Ensures Investment fund applications are made and implementation is used according to strategic plan and all processes followed.

2. Developing partnerships and leveraging resources.

Pro-actively analyses country’s business environment, identifies potential partners, meets and negotiates with representatives of the private sector. Develops working relationships with representatives of the business community and other partners. Drafts proposals for partnerships and fundraising activities, assists in designing and delivering donor reports to partners. Builds and maintains corporate partnerships and strategic alliances. Assist in other activities delegated by the supervisor related to the implementation of the country programme.

Executes targeted fundraising techniques for both corporates and individuals (i.e. corporate-social alliances, direct mailing and direct marketing, pledge donations, fundraising events, on-line donations, fundraising materials and presentations, donor communication and retention programs)

3. Monitoring.

Maintains close monitoring of contributions and budget management in accordance to UNICEF’s rules, policy and guidelines on managing Private Sector Fundraising in country offices. Monitors Corporate Social Responsibility developments and NGO/charitable sector and proposes initiatives for improving private sector partnerships and resource mobilization. Monitors, reviews and analyses various fundraising activities and channels, with a view on innovation and further improvement. Monitors and analyses income generation results ensuring the fundraising targets are met.

4. Reporting.

Reports fundraising results and provides other relevant information by request. Oversees external reporting to donors and the general public and internal reporting to relevant UNICEF Units.

5. Knowledge Sharing.

Compiles communication and fundraising materials to promote knowledge sharing with donors, media and partners. Promotes knowledge management by exchange of knowledge, information, experience or lessons learned within the country and the region. Promotes knowledge sharing on fundraising and recommendations on introduction of new initiatives into the country programme.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • University degree in marketing, management, economics, public administration or equivalent professional work experience in business development, sales, marketing and fundraising, combined with a university degree in a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years relevant professional work experience in business development, sales, marketing, fundraising or CSR at either the national or international level.
  • Fluency in English and Bulgarian is required.
