Absa Bank Botswana And UNICEF Botswana Partnered To Advance Child Rights
Partnership strengthened child rights, gender equality and responsible business practices across Botswana
UNICEF Botswana and Absa Bank Botswana signed a two-year partnership agreement aimed at advancing child rights, promoting family-friendly workplaces, and strengthening responsible business practices that support children, young people and their families across Botswana.
The partnership brought together Absa Bank Botswana's commitment to sustainable development and corporate citizenship with UNICEF's expertise in improving the lives of children. Together, the two organisations committed to integrating child-focused approaches into business practices while supporting inclusive and equitable workplaces.
The collaboration focused on promoting business and child rights, integrating child-sensitive principles into environmental, social and governance (ESG) strategies, and advancing family-friendly workplace policies, including gender-responsive approaches that enable parents and caregivers to balance work and family responsibilities.

"This partnership demonstrates how the private sector can champion child rights by promoting family-friendly workplaces, gender equality and responsible business practices that create lasting benefits for children, families and communities."
The agreement was signed for an initial period of two years, with the option to extend, and built on the longstanding collaboration between UNICEF Botswana and Absa Bank Botswana to empower women and young people through financial literacy initiatives. At the time of signing, the joint programmes had already reached more than 800 participants across Botswana, equipping women and youth with practical financial management skills and supporting their economic empowerment.
The partnership marked another important step in strengthening private sector engagement in advancing children's rights and promoting equitable opportunities for every child in Botswana. For every child, hope.
