Highlights

Botswana is redefining what it means to deliver education in the digital age. At the centre of this transformation are two groundbreaking initiatives: Giga and the Learning Passport (LP).

Giga, a collaboration between UNICEF and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), is a global initiative to connect every school to the Internet, and young person to information, opportunity and choice. It provides a framework to identify connectivity gaps, deploy technology infrastructure, and monitor access in real time.

The Learning Passport (LP), co-developed by UNICEF and Microsoft, is a digital platform offering interactive, curriculum-aligned content. It provides students with high-quality learning resources and equips educators with tools to enhance teaching. Designed with flexibility and scalability in mind, the LP enables learning both online and offline, making it accessible to students in areas with inconsistent connectivity.
