Workshop on Jahorina: Youth for UNICEF!
Using previously acquired knowledge, experience in other jobs and creativity, young people presented their vision of UNICEF in the future
The workshop for “UNICEF Juniors” gathered young people who have been given the opportunity to gain first-time work experience in the past few years by contributing to UNICEF and learning about the work of this organization both in Bosnia and Herzegovina and globally.
Using previously acquired knowledge, experience in other jobs as well as their creativity, young people presented their vision of UNICEF in the future in the framework of consultations on a new Country Programme for the period from 2021 to 2025. The young people also gave direct ideas to contribute to the global campaign of marking the 30th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. Most of their ideas and plans for the realization of campaigns in the media, on social networks and through various events will be realized in the following period.
Special guests at the workshop were the winners of the Young Lions Creatives competition, Aida Hadžić and Hana Trokić, who presented their creative solution to mark the 30th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, as well as to attract public attention to the needs and rights of children in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
"I was in the second generation of "UNICEF Juniors". I worked on several different projects, but mostly on the project "Justice for Children". The workshop on Jahorina was great and I'm glad that UNICEF has gathered all the generations of juniors in one place. We all moved onto different things and we can all learn from each other. I think that in this way we can easily solve a lot of things because we have more contacts and ideas, "said Samra Džumhur, one of the participants in the workshop.
The workshop was an opportunity for young people from several generations to exchange ideas, positive practices and experiences gained during the engagement. They talked about how much experience they gained in UNICEF and how it helped in their further career, the jobs they acquired or are currently in.
"It was great because we could offer our ideas for future activities of UNICEF, and we saw that we were not forgotten. It's also great that we had the opportunity to meet other "juniors" as we did not know everyone before. We are a great team and I'm glad that UNICEF was a springboard for many, because as far as I managed to find out from the other participants of the workshop, everyone is actively working and doing the jobs they love. UNICEF helped them a lot. I hope for similar workshops in the future, "said Melanie Zahirović, one of the participants in the workshop.
Throughout the past years, young people have been able to participate in the creation of numerous campaigns, events and various activities through proposals and creative ideas and concrete work on their realization, and to help UNICEF to approach children and young people in a better way in accordance with UNICEF's commitment to talk with youth about everything that concerns young people.
