First U-Report Bosnia and Herzegovina pool record teens’ concerns in the quality of the education sy
The vast majority of the participants expressed their concerns over the quality of education in Bosnia and Herzegovina
UNICEF Bosnia and Herzegovina launched their first poll and officially presented the U-Report Bosnia and Herzegovina platform on the 3rd of December 2018. The main goal of the initiative is to increase participation and social activism of citizens, primarily of young people, to help them amplify their voices and opinions. U-Report’s major focus was adapting to the technologically advanced society by creating the platform that can be accessed through mobile devices. The platform aims at encouraging young people to share their opinions and views on issues relevant to them. This way allows collecting valuable information available to both citizens and official institutions, to stimulate a dialogue and diminish the existing distance between the youth and those institutions. Data collected will be used to advance the existing, and create new development programs for youth.
Additionally, the representative of Council for Children Milena Jurić, noted the significance of such platform for collecting the voices and how its implementation can certainly lead towards the improvement of Children’s Rights in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The UN Resident Coordinator a.i., David Saunders stressed that the voices of young people truly do matter and identified the link between the youth engagement and the Sustainable Development Goals.
The first U-Report Bosnia and Herzegovina pool was launched by Edna Šunjić, the first student with Down syndrome attending the 3rd Gymnasium in Sarajevo as well as a multiple gold medalist and champion of inclusion: she expressed her gratitude and honor for participating in such an important event for all Bosnia and Herzegovina youth. The poll itself was focusing on the greatest issues the youth in Bosnia and Herzegovina are facing at the moment. The vast majority of the participants expressed their concerns over the quality of education in Bosnia and Herzegovina
The successful launching of the first U-Report Bosnia and Herzegovina poll is yet another example of the importance of youth participation in voicing and expressing their concerns and views towards the improvement of their quality of life. After the official launch, the polls will be sent out to the users two times a month and the results will be available on the official U-Report Bosnia and Herzegovina site (https://bihbih.ureport.in/) where one can find all the information and details regarding the platform itself. UNICEF Bosnia and Herzegovina and U-Report Bosnia and Herzegovina teams are highly encouraging everyone, especially young people, to participate by underlining the importance of voicing up and making a change.
