UNICEF Office for Bosnia and Herzegovina is seeking enthusiastic and qualified candidates for:

Non-office based, part-time consultancy

UNICEF BiH is looking for several candidates to be included in its roster to write, review or edit reports (such as donor proposals and reports, and other strategy/policy documents) before dissemination or publication.

The consultants will work closely with the Deputy Representative or/and Representative, as well as   other programme/project officers and the communication team.

Key Tasks:

The consultants will write, review or edit documents and ensure quality before dissemination or publication.  More specifically, the consultants will undertake the following:

• Collect inputs, compile information and prepare reports, briefing notes or fact sheets, as needed. For example, the consultant may help: a) document project implementation in specific sectors and to write a paper, with human interest stories; b) draft donor proposals or reports. This will entail a desk review of existing background documents provided by UNICEF, collecting inputs from UNICEF staff, possible field visits, writing some or all parts of the report(s) and/or editing others;

• Review and edit UNICEF documents, such as studies, donor proposals and reports, human interest stories, press releases, executive summaries, foreword, acknowledgements, communication materials, publications and other documents, as and when required. In reviewing draft document, the consultant will pay special attention to quality assurance, editing, adjusting the style as necessary, ensuring consistency in narrative text and tables.

• Other relevant tasks as requested.

Essential Requirements, Qualifications and Experience:

• Advanced degree in social sciences and/or relevant professional experience
• Excellent research, analytical and writing skills
• Experience in writing reports and documents
• Strong communication, interpersonal skills and sensitivity to different cultural context
• Knowledge related to UNICEF and the Convention on the Rights of the Child
• Being an English language native speaker is an asset
• Basic knowledge of computer systems and applications
• Ability to work under pressure, with tight deadlines, and to deliver results in a timely manner
• Previous experience with UNICEF, the UN or INGOs in BiH or in the region is an asset
• Fluency in BiH official languages is an asset.
