Learning during the coronavirus pandemic
How children in eastern Bhutan are learning from home.

From television to smart phones and self-instructional materials, children in eastern Bhutan are availing various mediums available to them to continue learning from home during the pandemic.
The Ministry of Education with support from UNICEF developed Self-Instructional Materials (SIM) and distributed it to about 17,000 children across the country who did not have access to television, smart phones and internet. The SIM contains the same lessons broadcast on television and ensures continuity of education during the pandemic.

Special Education Needs teachers have developed a routine for children with disabilities to ensure they are engaged with academic and functional activities. In some districts, teachers help clarify doubts for SEN students during home visits.

Nuns from Losel Yangchenling institute leave for their hostel after class in Yakpugang, Mongar. With the monastic school open, learning for most monks and nuns in the country has not been interrupted due to the pandemic.
