A year in review – our work and contribution in 2022
Building back better for Belizean children
UNICEF and the Government of Belize convened for an End of Year Review Meeting to discuss the implementation of the first year of the Country Programme Document (CPD) 2022-2026. UNICEF’s programme outcomes were presented by government ministries and partner agencies and a review undertaken to highlight key programmatic results, discuss changes in the programming context and how it impacted implementation, present new emerging priorities and innovations and discuss constraints and mitigation measures.
Hon. Eamon Courtenay, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade & Immigration participated and shared remarks on behalf of the government acknowledging UNICEF as a key development partner. Birgit Gerstengberg, Resident Coordinator for the UN in Belize also spoke about the significance of UNICEF’s contributions in a time that is critical for the protection of children. The discussions highlighted the importance of collaboration and integration in programme implementation to maximize results for children. The participants also identified priority actions points to further advance joint programming in the areas of education, health and protection and social policy. UNICEF Representative to Belize, Alison Parker, thanked Hon. Eamon Courtenay, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade & Immigration, for the continued support for the implementation of the CPD. She also thanked all the partner agencies for their commitment to our shared vision and delivering results for children of Belize.
