'A cat and a tiger’ is a story book for Class I students to be used as supplementary reading material. It is about an old cat and her daughter cat. The young cat being asked by the mother to go out and look for food is stopped by a tiger who wants to eat her. Sensing danger, the kitten jumped on to a tree and begged the big cat to spare her. As the tiger insisted, the little cat told him there were people coming in the direction. If the tiger attempted to kill her, she would cry out and the people would come rushing and take the tiger in a cage. At that, the tiger ran away. The children are expected to read it and enjoy the turn of the events that take place as the story progresses. Finally, the predator flees and everyone feels happy about it.
