Assessing district progress on MDGs : trends from 2000 to 2006

This 12-page report uses a composite index of eight indicators to analyse the progress of 64 districts in Bangladesh towards meeting the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).The research is based on the UNICEF-supported Multiple Indicator Cluster Surveys (MICS) conducted in 2000, 2003 and 2006. The report examines trends including rates of birth registration, school attendance, the proportion of births attended by skilled health personnel and iodised salt consumption. The report also includes the results of a rapid assessment conducted by UNICEF to understand some of the key factors affecting the progress of both high-performing and low-performing districts.
