“The submission period for UNICEF Meena Media Awards 2022 is now closed.
The Meena Media Awards recognize excellence in journalistic reporting on child rights issues in the media.
Terms and conditions
Submissions for the UNICEF Meena Media awards are solicited for journalistic reporting in support of child rights.
Eligibility criteria
Submissions must be:
- published in English or Bangla in established Bangladesh media in text, photography or video format between 1 September 2021 and 31 August 2022;
- produced by persons residing in Bangladesh;
- journalistically ethical, must not put children at risk, and must respect the dignity of children;
- submitted digitally, in the format of original publication, and with proof of publication;
- relevant to the selected submission category;
- limited to no more than one submission per person/team per category;
- produced by individuals who are not immediate family members of the judges or UNICEF staff.
Submissions not adhering to these criteria will be disqualified.
Award selection criteria
There are no set criteria for the judging of the Meena Media Awards. The definitions of each category are the only guidelines. It is left up to the independent judges to determine exactly what constitutes excellence in journalistic reporting on child rights issues in each category.

Categories in which submission for the Children’s Meena Media Awards (under-18) will be accepted

Award prizes
- Winners of Meena Media Awards (18 and over) will be awarded Taka 100,000 and a crest.
- Winners of Children's Meena Media Awards (under-18) will be awarded Taka 50,000 and a crest.
- All nominees will receive a certificate.
Rights reserved
UNICEF reserves the right to re-publish material of winners on its channels. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
