UNICEF’S Work in the Chittagong Hill Tracts
The Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) comprises of three hill districts of Rangamati, Bandarban and Khagrachari in the south-east of Bangladesh. The population is estimated at 1.6 million. In relation to its size, it is one of the most ethnically and culturally diverse regions of the world. The CHT is geographically distinct from most parts of plain-land Bangladesh and is mostly characterised by very steep, rugged and mountainous terrain.
