WHO and UNICEF`s immunization campaign reaches 100 children in the regions of Azerbaijan

26 April 2023

UNICEF and the World Health Organization (WHO) celebrate European Immunization Week on 24-29 April with the financial support of the European Union in four districts of Azerbaijan with low vaccination coverage through a series of educational events.

WHO and UNICEF carried out the activities with the organizational support of the Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan, the State Agency on Mandatory Health Insurance (SAMHI), and the Administration of Regional Medical Divisions (TABIB) with a clear message to all -  “Timing matters! Every Dose Counts.”

Dr. Aytan Ziyadova also facilitated training for pediatricians and healthcare workers working in Gobustan and Mingachevir about the latest guidelines based on scientific evidence regarding vaccination.

UNICEF Representative in Azerbaijan, Alex Heikens, representatives of the Gobustan Executive Power, the Ministry of Health, the State Agency for Mandatory Medical Insurance, TABIB, and the director of the Gobustan District Central Hospital were among the attendees of the conference held at the Gobustan District Central Hospital.

The informative materials on vaccine-preventable diseases and routine immunization will be available at all vaccination stations in the mentioned regions throughout the campaign to raise public awareness.
