UNICEF Delegation Explore Collaborative Healthcare Initiatives during Nakhchivan Visit

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) representatives have embarked on an important visit to The Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. The initial meeting with First Deputy Minister of Health, Acting Minister of Health, Samig Sadikhov, highlighted significant healthcare reforms, including the establishment of 37 Family Health Centers and a cutting-edge Smart Vaccination system.

The focus on primary healthcare underscores the commitment to providing high-quality medical services to citizens. Tohfa Jamilova, the head of the Health and Nutrition Program expressed satisfaction with Nakhchivan's swift implementation of reforms and openness to new healthcare initiatives, foreseeing the region as a potential exemplar for the entire country. The purpose of the visit is to explore avenues for collaboration, particularly in maternal and child health, emphasizing the enhancement of knowledge and skills in primary healthcare services. 

After the meeting, the representatives visited Nakhchivan Perinatal Center, Nakhchivan Autonomous Republican Hospital and Ordubad Family Health Center. Notably, a 3-day training program for UNICEF trainers, commenced on November 15, delves into topics such as primary health services improvement, early childhood development, and the implementation of the Universal Progressive Home-Visiting (UPHV) model. This initiative aims to select and train experts for the successful implementation of new healthcare models in Nakhchivan, marking a significant step toward bolstering healthcare services in the region.
