United Nation Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and Azerbaijan National Paralympics Committee (ANPC) signed Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the frame of Children’s Paralympics Movement

Baku, 8 October, 2013 – United Nation Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and Azerbaijan National Paralympics Committee held a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremony. The MOU signed by Ilgar Rahimov – President of ANPC and Mark Hereward – Representative of UNICEF in Azerbaijan.

On 27 September, 2013 the first Children’s Paralympic Committe in the international practice was established under ANPC by the decision of the ANPC Executive Board. The purpose of the MOU is to join efforts of UNICEF and National Paralympics Committee in bringing Children’s Paralympics Movement in line with the best international practicies.

By signing the MOU National Paralympic Committe and UNICEF will commit to work together to ensure greater access of and better opportunities for children and adolescents with disability to participation in the sport and play and their inclusion into the mainstream society.

Representatives of the National Parliament, government, civil society, as well as young paralympics sportsmen will participate at the signing ceremony along with representatives from ANPC and UNICEF.

The signing ceremony will take place in Dalga Plaza (24 Neftchilar avenue) – 9-th floor, on 8 October, 2013 at 11:00.
