OneMinutesJr workshop in Azerbaijan - Day 5
On the fifth day here in Guba, Azerbaijan, the OneMinutesJr workshop comes to an end with the final presentation of all the films.
We managed to produce 13 OneMinutesJr videos which are now shown to all 100 children in the summer camp. The workshop participants are sitting in the front row of the little theater we built in the basement of one of the buildings in the Guba Olympic Complex. When the lights go out, the first cheering starts and it does not end until long after the last film has been shown.
The main topics for the children in this workshop around "healthy lifestyles" seemed to be alcohol abuse, smoking and pollution. All the films are clearly calling for more awareness among the young people, but also among the adults and the parents in particular. The challenges of children living with disabilities were also high on the agenda at the workshop and Togrul's film about his slighty disabled friend Elvin is among the highlights at the screening. And Elvin, newly turned actor and filmmaker, gets a standing ovation from the 100 children in the camp.
The films will now go up on several websites, participate in the annual OneMinutesJr competition and - last but not least - will be used by UNICEF Azerbaijan to raise awareness for health issues at home, here in Azerbaijan.
