“A child has a right to develop to the maximum extent possible”.
The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child has declared that “a child has a right to develop to the maximum extent possible”, affirming that early development is a right for all children across the globe.
UNICEF adopts an integrated approach to early childhood development by incorporating health, nutrition, education and parenting support to give every child in Azerbaijan the best possible start in life.
Some key facts:
- Lack of nutrition in early childhood leads to stunting
- Risks associated with poverty in early childhood – such as under nutrition and poor sanitation – can lead to developmental delays and a lack of progress in school.
- For a country, poor early childhood development could mean economic loss.
