Statement by UNICEF country office in Armenia and UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador Henrikh Mkhitaryan

A call to enable equal opportunities for every child

26 October 2018

YEREVAN, 26 October 2018 - Children with disabilities are among the most vulnerable and excluded groups in the world.

Labeling, neglect, and stereotyping are some of the social barriers that children with disabilities and their families face in society. Public opinion plays a major role in creating an environment that promotes the rights of vulnerable children and empowers them.

If a child has physical or mental disability, that does not mean that he or she cannot make a valuable contribution to the community and society.

Inclusive education provides an opportunity to maximize the full potential of every child's physical, cognitive, emotional and social development, which is also possible when a child is growing up in a family environment and is actively communicating with his or her peers.

Every child is valuable in his or her own way. Share this video by joining UNICEF and Henrikh Mkhitaryan's call to enable equal opportunities for every child.
