What we do

UNICEF works with various partners to provide programmes that enable equitable and sustained realisation of the right of every women and child in Zimbabwe to survival, development and protection.

Young Child Survival and Development

Improve quality and usage of health facilities and improve the nutritional status of children and women, so that under-five mortality is reduced by half and maternal mortality by a quarter by 2015.

Child Protection

Create a policy, legal and budget framework to ensure the protection of children against violence, exploitation and abuse and to ensure that all children can access social service.

Basic Education and Gender Equality

Improve learning and teaching materials, support teacher training and motivate teachers and encourage the adoption of the Child Friendly School model.

Water, Sanitation and Hygiene

Increase availability and access to quality water and sanitation services nationally with special focus on the most disadvantaged districts and communities.
