The Government of Tajikistan is organizing the National Children’s Water Forum to create a platform for children to discuss and speak about issues related to water, hygiene and sanitation and how children, the government and others can act in response to these issues. It will be held in Dushanbe on 21-23 August 2003. It is one of the national events being organized in support of the International Fresh Water Year.
Through small group discussions and plenary presentations, theatre performances and other activities, the Forum will enable schoolchildren to discuss, analyze and plan for actions to improve the situation of water and sanitation in Tajikistan.
The children’s discussions will focus on four topics;
The forum also seeks to facilitate children’s discussion of the decision-making processes in their communities and in the regions and how children’s involvement and participation could be strengthened and integrated into these processes.
