Etudes sans fontières is a non profit NGO created in Paris, in March 2003 by young French students.
Its mission is to help the young people from zones affected by war or political oppression: it offers them the chance to continue their education in Europe and North America, or in their country when the situation allows it.
The objective of the association is to form future professionals to contribute to the development and the rebuilding of their society.
After a strict selection, the students are hosted in a country to study from 6 months up to 3 years. When they are finished with their program they go back to their country and start a project, with the assistance of the association. Now, Etudes sans frontières is found in Belgium, Italy, Canada, Spain, Germany, Norway, Democratic Republic of Congo, the Sahara Occidental, Rwanda and Chechnya.
Projects in Chechnya and Rwanda
- Chechnya
Since 2003, 20 young Chechnyans arrived to Paris to study. The students selected take university courses for one or two years in post graduated education level. They are placed by the association which helps them for school and social integration. When they finish studying, Etudes sans frontières assists them in setting up their project in Chechnya and keeps contact with them after their return. - Rwanda
Etudes sans frontières also assists the "orphans of Kimironko", targeting children and young orphans. The effect of this action had positive results on the young people: they provided access to high schools and universitys. Thanks to the contacts and dynamics generated by the project, electricity was installed in the village, which changed the life of its habitants.
