Privacy policy

UNICEF's Privacy Policy covers all data and information collected by UNICEF' Voices of Youth Internet Project. In addition, Voices of Youth's Privacy Policy provides further information and privacy protections.

UNICEF's Voices of Youth Internet Project does not collect personally identifiable information from visitors without their knowledge. On our online message forms, name, date of birth, country of residence, gender and email address are required for membership. All other personal information is optional. All users under the age of 18 must seek permission from their parent or guardian in order to gain membership to the Voices of Youth forums.

Voices of Youth uses this information to create and maintain membership profiles for our online message boards, for research, and may use this information to customize the content or features on the website. No visitors are re-contacted by Voices of Youth, with two exceptions: (1) they have indicated an interest in being re-contacted; (2) the information they have provided may be harmful to themselves or others.

Members may modify, review or delete account information at anytime by accessing their personal profile at: http://www.unicef.org/voy/discussions.

Voices of Youth uses cookies to store user preferences, record session information such as logins, record user-specific information on what pages users access or visit, customize Web page content based on user's browser type or other information that the user sends. You can reset your browser to not accept cookies or to show you when they are being used. But parts of the Voices of Youth site may not function properly if you refuse cookies.

Voices of Youth does not sell or trade information sent to it by users. Voices of Youth does not share information with third parties without prior consent, unless required in order to: comply with the law; enforce or apply the Terms of Use and other agreements; or protect the rights, property, or safety of UNICEF, our users, or others.

For Parents and Guardians

Voices of Youth and UNICEF believe in promoting and facilitating the involvement of families in decisions about the Internet. As such, Voices of Youth requires all children under 18 years of age to alert their parents or guardians to their participation in the Voices of Youth website.
