These children, many of whom are orphans because one or both parents have died of AIDS, cannot travel far to collect clean water. This new water pump makes sure they have easy access to clean water. (Zambia)

Good access to clean water and sanitation facilities makes life easier for those who are caring for people living with AIDS as well. Less time collecting water allows care givers - usually women and girls - more time and energy to care for their loved ones, and for going to school or working.

See the HIV and AIDS pages for more information about HIV prevention and caring for people with HIV and AIDS.
