Women in Bhutan prepare a field for planting buckwheat by using fallen pine branches as fertilizer. Secondly, with a growing acceptance that environmental action is ultimately in everyone's interest, there is an increased global focus on sustainable development — in other words, development that can continue without using up resources and otherwise damaging the environment. Millennium Development Goal number 7 is to ensure environmental sustainability. Technology can be harnessed to help us meet this goal, for example by producing cleaner sources of energy. |
