caregivers adults in charge of providing protection and basic care for a child.

conflict is an extended fight or struggle, whether neighbourhood crime and violence, civil war or war between two countries.

discrimination when people make an unjust distinction on the basis of race, religion or sex.

exploitation of children when children are taken advantage of by adults. For example, children who are forced to work so that adults can profit.

gender equality when men and women share equally in rights, resources and opportunities.

household a dwelling in which a group of individuals, often related, share meals and a common living space.

identity a group of qualities – language, nationality, race, religion and others – that constitute a person’s individuality.

marginalized when a person or a group is ignored, shunned or treated as insignificant.

minority a relatively small group of people differing from others in the society of which they are a part in race, religion, language, political persuasion, etc.

prejudice a preconceived opinion of someone or something, usually with a negative connotation.

ratify to approve; to confirm.

stigma a mark or sign of disgrace that brings about prejudice, judgment or discrimination.

vulnerable a person that is likely to be harmed physically or psychologically.
