UN Special Representative, Angelique Kidjo, from Benin, performs in New York City, USA at the UNGA Special Session on Children. Look what education has done for her! But education would improve the girl's chances of getting better-paid work, so she would be able to make a significant contribution to the family's income. And she might be able to contribute in other ways – for example by providing information about health care and safety. If the girl goes to school, she also may get married later, and have more time to dedicate to her studies before she has her own children. When she does have children, she will know more about what she needs to do to keep her children healthy, and how to make sure they get an education. |
