You could argue that ignorance is bliss. If you have done risky things in the past, for example having sex without a condom, but you are feeling fine, what is the point in getting tested and possibly hearing bad news? People can be HIV-positive for years without developing symptoms. Why spend those years worrying about having HIV and getting AIDS?
