A young woman who has just learned she has HIV, is comforted by a health worker near Harare, Zimbabwe Confidentiality between doctor and patient is one of the basic principles of health services, and privacy is a right under the Convention on the Rights of the Child. Besides, if people do not think that the results of HIV tests will be kept private, they will not come forward to have a test in the first place, and this will make it more likely that they will unintentionally spread the disease to others. |
