UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador Sir Roger Moore to Visit
Hanoi, October 21st, 2003 – The popular British film, television and stage actor, Sir Roger Moore will be visiting Viet Nam from 26 to 31 October. In his first visit to Viet Nam Sir Roger will visit UNICEF supported projects in Hue and Quang Tri Provinces. He will observe integrated child care initiatives focussing on water, hygiene, primary education and childhood injury prevention. Roger Moore is best known for his role as the Secret Service Agent 007, James Bond. He starred in several popular Bond films including “Live and Let Die”, “The Spy who Loved Me”, “Moonraker”, “For Your Eyes Only”, “Octopussy” and “A View to a Kill”. Moore was appointed UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador in 1991. He has since then worked tirelessly to promote projects for children in a large number of countries, travelling to Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala, the Philippines, Brazil, Mexico, Slovenia, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Ghana, Indonesia, Japan, Korea and Kenya. He regularly uses speaking engagements and public functions to promote UNICEF concerns and fund-raising initiatives. Just two weeks ago Sir Roger Moore received his knighthood from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace in London in recognition of his outstanding work as Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF.
