The duration of Mr. Xuan Bac’s appointment is expected to be two years, from October 2012 to September 2014. “I am proud to appoint you as UNICEF Viet Nam's Goodwill Ambassador. Like all UNICEF's Goodwill Ambassadors, you were chosen based on your compassion, and your appeal to children and young generations all around Viet Nam. You are joining the ranks of other celebrities that are supporting UNICEF in giving voice for those who frequently have no voice, and in improving the lives and futures of children. We are very pleased to have you join the UNICEF family. I know you will shine in helping us bring UNICEF’s mission to Vietnamese audiences”, said UNICEF Viet Nam’s Representative, Ms. Lotta Sylwander, during a mid-Autumn festival celebration in Ha Noi. Being one of the most favourite celebrities in the country, Mr. Xuan Bac has expressed interest in supporting humanitarian work and willingness to reach out to vulnerable women and children living in remote rural areas. He has been an active volunteer in many charity activities in the country. In 2010, Mr. Xuan Bac was appointed by Viet Nam’s Ministry of Agricultural and Rural Development, in collaboration with UNICEF and Lien Aid, an Ambassador for the Water, Hygiene and Sanitation sector. “UNICEF is known all over the world for ensuring all children, especially the most vulnerable, enjoy quality education, protection and care. I look forward to learning more and to supporting UNICEF any way I can", said Mr. Nguyen Xuan Bac as Ms. Lotta Sylwander officially handed over the letter appointing Mr. Xuan Bac as UNICEF Viet Nam’s Goodwill Ambassador. For more than half a century, UNICEF’s Goodwill Ambassadors have helped improve the lives of children and women around the world, by creating public awareness of children’s issues and helping to mobilise resources. “With your tremendous sense of humour, you have been successful in touching people’s minds and hearts in Viet Nam. You are a national superstar who can help shine a spotlight on the most vulnerable and invisible children””, Ms. Sylwander concluded. About UNICEF For further information, please contact:
