“Yahoo! Safely” Launched To Help Create a Safer Internet Environment For Users In Viet Nam
Partnership with UNICEF will provide online safety tips for educators, parents and teens
Ho Chi Minh City, May 31, 2011 – Yahoo! (NASDAQ: YHOO), the premier digital media company, today announced the launch of Yahoo! Safely Viet Nam, an initiative designed to help Internet users make safe and smarter choices online. As part of this campaign, Yahoo! is partnering with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to promote a safer Internet experience for children and young people through more responsible use of online technology. The programme extends to parents and educators to equip them with the knowledge and also the understanding to identify the potential risks that may impact their families, students and communities.
Launched today, the Yahoo! Safely website (http://vn.safely.yahoo.com/) is a one-stop resource to inform parents, educators, children and young people about important topics such as online etiquette, managing digital reputations, how to avoid cyber-bullying and other form of abuse and exploitation, and learning how to minimise risks on mobile Internet devices. Yahoo! Safely is a global program from Yahoo!, a longtime industry leader on child safety, where users across 26 countries and 14 languages can access information and advice on making smart choices online. In line with its vision ‘to deliver your world, your way’, the Yahoo! Safely website encourages parents to take the issue of Internet security for children seriously. The Yahoo! UNICEF collaboration will offer a parents-children learning network through various courses and interactive materials to make the young acutely aware of the potential issues related to online safety.

Yahoo!VN and UNICEF Viet Nam will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that commits to a long-term partnership on digital safety as well as some broader issues that impact children in Viet Nam. By leveraging of the power of Yahoo! and its reach across 680 million worldwide and 6.8 million users in Viet Nam (Source: comScore Media Metrix April 2011), people, parents, youths and communities can leverage the knowledge, tips and guidance from the Yahoo! Safely website to educate, inform and stay safe online. The initiative will also target parents, and teachers to deliver interactive training lessons under one roof using a network of accredited trainers.
