Summary: In this video, shot and edited in a youthful, dynamic style, viewers are introduced to Iqui Balam, a theater group in Guatemala composed mostly of ex-gang members. Performing plays based on their personal experiences with violence in a violent country, they seek to offer kids an alternative to gang life. As told through the eyes of one of its senior members, Julio, we see Iqui Balam perform and work in poor barrios on the outskirts of Guatemala City and teach theater to children in area schools. |
