UNICEF works with the government to improve both quality and efficiency of basic education as well as to ensure equal access for all children. This partnership focuses on effective implementation of existing national education policies and practical application of concepts, such as Child-friendly Schools (CFS) in the country. UNICEF advocates for and helps to integrate new child-centered pedagogical standards and techniques into in-service and pre-service training and development of inclusive education policies and standards. Technical support is provided to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of teaching activities through improved school management, learning processes in basic education and creating effective and coherent system to measure the quality of education.

UNICEF also supports the government in the development and implementation of early child development policies, improvement of preschool education services, and promotion of good care practices for children within the family and community.
