The launch of the photo exhibition "Portraits. Self portraits"
Kyiv, 22 November, 2010 – The Embassy of France in Ukraine, the French Cultural Center and UN Children's Fund (UNICEF) present a special photo exhibition and film "Draw Yourself" by Gilles Porte in the grand opening of the Week of Children's Rights protection. The event takes place 22 November at 18.00 at the Kyiv Palace of children and youth.
Gilles Port, a director and a photographer, commencing with the idea of self-portraits, drawn by small inhabitants of the world, started in 2009 a multimedia project that included a book album, 30 international photo exhibitions, held simultaneously on 5 continents (with the 20th anniversary of the signing the Convention on the Rights of the Child) and 80 short films and a special film "Draw yourself", which was presented at Cannes Festival 2010.
This exhibition traveled to Ukraine, and for the first time there were also Ukrainian children participated and their pictures taken by Gilles Porte during his travel to Kyiv in October 2010 were included in the exhibition.
Matthieu Ardin, the Director of the Frecnh Cultural Centre, Yukie Mokuo, the Representative of UNICEF in Ukraine, Ukrainian children who took part in a photo project, representatives of international organizations, diplomatic missions and other charities will visit the event.
Also on Tuesday, November 23, 10.00-14.30, in the Kyiv Youth and Children Palace an International Roundtable on children's rights to justice and the rights of children per family will be held. Please take your ID or business card for headphones.
