UNICEF Regional Director visits Ukraine
Kyiv, 21 June 2010 – UNICEF Regional Director for Central and Eastern Europe and Commonwealth of Independent States (CEE/CIS) Steven Allen is visiting Ukraine on 22-24 June 2010. He will discuss results for children in the areas of health and protection in country, as well as opportunities for broadening partnerships that benefit children within new Country Programme of Cooperation for 2012 – 2016 between the Government of Ukraine and UNICEF. During his three day visit, Steven Allen is expected to meet senior Governmental officials – including Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov, Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Seminozhenko, Minister of Health of Ukraine Zinoviy Mytnyk, Minister of Family, Youth and Sport Ravil Saffiulin, Secretary of the National Security Council of Ukraine Raisa Bogatyryova, the Deputy Ministers of Justice and Foreign Affairs, parliamentarians and the representatives of civil society, the international development community and the United Nations. During his meetings, UNICEF Regional Director will get better acquainted with the challenges Ukraine face and the work implemented by the Government of Ukraine and UNICEF to help them and as a part of the efforts to improve lives of children and their families in country. ***
