Effective monitoring and implementation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) and the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) in Turkey is difficult since accurate information on women and children is hard to find. What data there is tends to be dispersed over different sources so it can be difficult to know where to find information and how to access it. Since research, monitoring and evaluation methodologies often differ, making comparisons between data is extremely difficult.
A central databank supplying accurate, up-to-date information on children and women is essential.
The Children and Women Information Network (CAWIN) project aims to establish a dynamic, interactive, sustainable child, women and youth information network with the latest data contributing to the ongoing improvement of new research and information.
CAWIN will achieve this through:
It is expected that a sustainable interactive child, women and youth information network with the latest accurate data will provide an important tool for improving the quality and usefulness of research and information supporting effective implementation of both the CRC and CEDAW.
