Ankara, 13 June, 2005 -- Crown Princess Victoria breezed into Ankara yesterday -- the first visit in 71 years from a member of the Swedish Royal Family.

During a reception at the Swedish Embassy the Princess presented a donation from Swedish businessmen in Turkey to the UNICEF Representative in Turkey, Edmond McLoughney.

Swedish Ambassador to Turkey, Anne Dismorr, speaking about the relationship between Turkey and Sweden, said that: Our relationship goes practically as far back as the Vikings. She added that both countries cooperated in many fields but one of the most important goals was for Turkey to have successful negotiations with the EU.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Abdullah Gül was present at the reception, along with the State Minister Responsible for Women’s and Children’s Issues, Nimet Çubukçu, and many other Turkish and foreign dignitaries.
