Ankara, 12 April 2007 Under the Haydi Kızlar Okula! girls’ education campaign, UNICEF and NTV are aiming to build 100 additional schools that will hold an extra 10,000 students all over Turkey with the help of the people of Turkey.
Türk Telekom is the primary sponsor of the More Schools! campaign
Turkey is in urgent need of new school buildings. UNICEF believes that prefabricated classes would be the quickest and cheapest way and the NTV broadcast channel supports this plan. With the help of the people of Turkey, UNICEF and NTV are aiming to build 100 additional primary schools, providing extra classroom space for 10,000 children.
Just send an empty SMS to 3005 through any service provider. For every message you send, you will contribute 5 YTL (approximately $3.50 or €2.50) to the fund for building More Schools!

NTV and UNICEF will boost the campaign through a daylong marathon televised on April 23rd to mark the occasion of National Sovereignty and Children’s Day. The sponsors of More Schools! are expecting contributions from members of the public, leading companies, institutions and charity organisations in Turkey via SMS or bank accounts given above.
The entire daytime broadcast on NTV will be devoted to encouraging contributions on air with various contests and performances. Celebrities and talented children will make special appearances at NTV studios during the course of the marathon.
The final highlight of the campaign will be a contest, We Need to Sing a Song for Children, produced by Med Productions. During this leg of the marathon, celebrated figures will sing together with children. Turkish celebrities and stars will take to the stage with children and all revenues generated will be fully transferred to UNICEF.
The stars will be singing for a brighter future for children. Since all contributions will go towards improving the education system, this means a brighter future for Turkey.
