The campaign envisages cash support to mothers in order to increase enrolment rates in school for girls. The plan is to subsidise families with daughters of primary school age with a monthly payment of 25,000,000TL and 35,000,000TL to those with daughters of secondary school age. Respective payments for male children enrolled in school are 16,500,000TL and 25,000,000TL for primary and secondary education. The target is to reach 1,050,000 families.
UNICEF Representative Mr Edmond McLoughney pointed out that 600,000 girls in Turkey were out of school even though they are of school age.
