Following the earthquake and tsunami disaster that struck Southeast Asia in the last days of 2004, UNICEF has launched a worldwide appeal for funds, calling on the people of Turkey with the help of Tarkan. The campaign aims to reach child survivors of the disaster which to date is estimated to have cost the lives of 60,000 children.

UNICEF and Tarkan have come together to make Turkey’s contribution to supporting basic right to survival of the children of the disaster region who are now struggling against thirst, hunger and epidemics of disease. The call for aid spot was shot by Kalafilm Productions on the sets of Film Street with the full voluntary participation of Tarkan and his team.

In the short film, Tarkan speaks out for the basic needs of child survivors in dire circumstances that now dominate the disaster region. Turkey’s international celebrity Tarkan reminds Turkish people of the suffering they experienced in the near past and calls for their help.
