UNICEF launches “Power of the Little” Campaign to raise funds for disadvantaged children in Thailand
BANGKOK, January 2, 2014 – The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) today launches the “Power of the Little” Campaign to raise funds from general public for some 2.5 million children in Thailand who still live in poverty.
A 30-second television spot featuring a young actor, Archiravich Dejparrod or Plawan will be aired through various media channels in an effort to urge each individual to give as little as 25 baht via SMS in order to help improve the lives of millions of children who are in need of assistance.
“Thailand has made much progress both socially and economically over recent decades, but not all children have benefitted equally,” said Bijaya Rajbhandari, the UNICEF Representative for Thailand.
“As many as 2.5 million children still live under the poverty line. These children suffer from inadequate nutrition, education, early child care and protection, limiting their opportunity to thrive.”
UNICEF is currently working to ensure that these children receive appropriate care and protection, Rajbhandari added. By joining UNICEF, everyone can help make their lives better.
To donate: Type “UNICEF” and SMS to 4712225 or go to www.powerofthelittle.com One SMS costs 25 baht.
