UNICEF, WHO Statement on Thai Cabinet Resolution10 August 2012 - UNICEF – WHO Statement on Thai Cabinet Resolution Number 16, adopted 7 August: Measures to monitor and control the marketing and promotion of breast milk substitutes for infants and young children UNICEF and WHO welcome this resolution adopted by the Cabinet of the Royal Government of Thailand on “Measures to monitor and control the marketing and promotion of breast milk substitutes for infants and young children.” The unethical marketing and promotion of infant formula and other breastfeeding substitute products in health facilities has served to undermine breastfeeding in Thailand. This resolution by the Cabinet, which should help put a stop to these practices, is a commendable and critical first step towards ensuring the best start in life for all children in Thailand.
