Achievements

Advocacy and media mobilization

• Ongoing work with governments and media to highlight children’s issues and advocate for change
• Established Child Friendly Media awards
• Secured the cooperation of the major television and radio channels in broadcasting material by and for children on the International Children’s Day of Broadcasting

Child rights training and youth participation

• Trained more than 300 government officials and 300 university students studying mass communication on child rights
• Supported Radio Thailand in establishing a programme that features youth DJs talking about issues of importance to children (broadcast every Sunday between 2pm and 4pm on FM92.5 and AM891)
• Supported the Youth Innovation Group to document and fund youth-run development projects

Programme communication and behaviour change

• Facts for Life health and safety manual translated into Thai and distributed to 100,000 families
• National breastfeeding taskforce established and more than 200 key practitioners and 800 fathers trained
• Communication campaign to support the new Child Protection Act
• Educational drives to keep children and their families safe from any outbreak of Avian Influenza
• Poster, pamphlets and TV spots to protect children and their families from the spread of Avian Influenza
