Activities

UNICEF works in close partnership with the Royal Thai Government, the private sector, NGOs, faith-based groups, youth groups, local communities and vulnerable children themselves to ensure the realization of child rights for all children in Thailand.

Child protection
UNICEF works to keep children safe from abuse, neglect, trafficking, child labour and exploitation. We also advocate to ensure that children are protected and treated sensitively by the law.

Education
UNICEF programmes focus on getting more children into school and ensuring that schools are safe, clean and provide a high-quality, relevant education that will prepare children for their adult lives.

HIV/AIDS
UNICEF works to prevent new infections, stop the transmission of HIV from pregnant women to their children and protect the rights of orphans and other children affected by or living with HIV/AIDS.

Tsunami response
UNICEF plans to "build back better" by addressing not just the immediate tsunami aftermath, but also long-term problems that were ignored before the disaster.

Advocacy and social mobilization
UNICEF works to increase awareness of child rights and generate a real commitment to their realisation by highlighting critical issues and campaigning for changes that affect children's lives.

Social policy analysis and monitoring
UNICEF works with government and other partners to analyse the true situation of children and women in Thailand and to advocate for greater social investment for children.

Local capacity building
UNICEF builds the capacity of local government, families and communities to help children and shares successful models of development for replication around Thailand and the region.

Private sector development
Thailand is one of a handful of developing countries to raise funds locally, and all the funds raised by UNICEF in Thailand are used to support programmes for children in Thailand. We also partner with the private sector to provide opportunities for children and advocate for child rights.
