UNICEF Country Representative presented credentials to the Minister of Foreign Affairs

SKOPJE, 17 July 2013:  Dr. Bertrand Desmoulins, the incoming UNICEF Representative, today presented his credentials to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Nikola Poposki.

In welcoming the new UNICEF Representative, Minister Poposki expressed his appreciation for the good cooperation between the Government and UNICEF in the country.  He underlined the importance of the successful implementation of the joint 2010-2015 country programme which outlines support to Government priorities in health, early childhood development, education and child protection.

Dr. Desmoulins expressed his commitment to deepening UNICEF’s cooperation with the Government and relevant institutions to further achieve progress in implementing the Convention of the Rights of the Child, including the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. 

Dr. Desmoulins has a long career in international development and humanitarian aid programmes.  A French national, he holds a Master of Public Health, Health Policy and Management from the Johns Hopkins University, USA, and Doctor of Medicine Diploma from the Medical School at University Aix-Marseille II, France.
