When Children with Disabilities go to School

Developing school skills

What are 'school skills'?

Once a child has developed pre-school skills, she is ready to learn more difficult skills. These are skills which are often taught in the early years of school, for this reason we call them, school skills.

Why do we need to know about them?

It is important to know about school skills so that we can help a child who is having difficulties developing these skills.

Who can teach a child these skills?

Anyone who is interested in helping the child can teach him or her — parents, teachers, rehabilitation workers, etc…

How can we help a child to develop school skills?

There are certain activities which will help a child to develop these skills. Sit down with the child in a calm and quiet place where he or she can concentrate and let him or her try out the activities.
