The High School that the militia burnt in September has been rebuilt by the Timorese people with the help and collaboration of donor countries under the auspices of the UN.
This building is being shared by the Maliana Senior and Junior high schools. Because the Junior High School is not yet renovated, we are temporarily without an official school uniform.
This renovated building is still insufficient to serve all of us, so many of us have our lessons outside under a tree, sitting on rocks.
But none of this is a challenge for us. Instead we accept it happily, for isn't this what we wanted? This is a gift from God because now we are free. Even though we have to struggle to get our schooling, we promise to study hard to develop East Timor's future.
